Legally Blonde went down in history as one of the most beloved girl-power comedies of the early 2000s, and its next chapter is on the horizon. Amazon MGM Studios is developing a spin-off series inspired by the original movie, produced by its star Reese Witherspoon.

This project is still in the early stages of development, and Amazon is keeping plot details under wraps, but we know that Gossip Girl developers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are writing the script. They’re also executive producing it alongside Witherspoon and her Hello Sunshine partner Lauren Neustadter, plus the Legally Blonde movie franchise producer Marc Platt.

Deadline described this project as an “offshoot” so it’s possible it won’t center on the original Legally Blonde heroine Elle Woods, while still being set in the same universe. Amazon is also looking into expanding this franchise with another potential spin-off, which is still in the preliminary stages of development.

Legally Blonde came out in 2001, and it starred Witherspoon as Elle Woods, a sorority girl who finds her purpose after making an unconventional decision to become a Harvard Law student. Its sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde came out in 2003, and the potential third film starring Witherspoon is currently in development.

Legally Blonde star, Reese Witherspoon, Instagram Lived Monday and treated fans to a much-needed update on the highly wished for third installment of the franchise.

It’s a good thing Witherspoon caught up with her friend Jennifer Lopez because it’s thanks to her 12-year-old twins Emme and Max that the conversation turned to the film.

“Oh, my god, we watched Legally Blonde the other day,” Jennifer said. “Literally, like, four days ago. Oh, my god, I forgot—I can’t believe I didn’t tell you. They loved it. Loved it. It was so much fun. You were so amazing in that. It’s so great. And then, my daughter’s like, ‘I want to know what happens to her.’ And I said, ‘There’s a 2 and a 3, I believe.’”

Enter Reese who said, “Well, no, there’s a 2 but I’m thinking we might be working on a 3.”

“You should. You should,” Lopez insisted. “That character was so amazing and so empowering and inspiring. Yeah, it’s great for girls.”

And snap!

Ariana Grande’s new music video for Thank U, Next is perfect.

But now the pop star is telling us that it could have been more perfect.

The track was written as a “tribute” to her exes and features the 25 year old emulating scenes from iconic 2000 films such as Mean Girls, 13 Going on 30, Legally Blonde and Bring It On.

Because the video had fans breaking the internet, Ari has now released the first of 3 behind-the-scenes videos so we can share in the fun she had on set.

The first clip shows the singer dressed as Reese Witherspoon’s character, Elle Woods, in Legally Blonde in a car scene which sadly ended up on the editing room floor.

Legally Blonde star Jennifer Coolidge also gushes over the songstress and how she wishes there were more songs that empower young girls not to feel miserable about failed relationships.

We can’t wait for parts two and three!
