]]>Carlile formed The Highwomen in 2019, alongside fellow country stars Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris, and Amanda Shires. Their debut album recently celebrated its first birthday, and she discussed it in Rolling Stone’s 2021 Grammy Preview.
Carlile said she’s really proud of her work with this group, and added it was one of the great honors of her career to record an album with her fellow Highwomen. She’s also excited about the changes she’s seeing in the country music world since they decided to join forces.
“Even if it’s not the Highwomen that carry that torch or take that across the finish line, other women are doing the work… I’m seeing direct and important change in roots music, and I’m feeling like I’m really proud of being a part of the beginning of that momentum,” she told the magazine.
The Highwomen’s eponymous debut studio album reached no. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, but its follow-up is yet to be announced.
