Generation Z may not be familiar with records — or even CDs in some cases — but they are familiar with the music of the 20th century.

And thanks to modern technology, they can now enjoy those songs through streaming.

Universal Music Group has scoured streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and YouTube to determine the most-streamed song of the 20th century.

Despite record companies claiming that it was too long and would never sell due to its bizarre lyrics and operatic arrangement, Queen can feel vindicated that its classic, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” has been named the most-streamed song from the 20th century.

The 6-minute track written by Freddie Mercury in 1975 may have received a boost with audiences thanks to the 2018 film of the same name.

The song surpassed 1.6 billion streams globally, across all major streaming services, overtaking “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana.

“So the river of rock music has metamorphosed into streams! Very happy that our music is still flowing to the max!” exclaimed Queen guitarist Brian May.

Any way the wind blows…

If Shawn Mendes and Teddy Geiger were feeling under pressure while recording their latest single, we definitely couldn’t tell.

As the world gets ready to rock ahead of the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, several of Queen’s classics are being covered by famous names of today.

Including the “In My Blood” singer and the “Love and Run” songstress.

The two had previously worked together as Teddy co-wrote Shawn’s debut hit, “Stitches,” but this marks the first time they have been recorded together singing.

“I am so honored to be able to support the amazing legacy of Freddie and Queen by doing a cover of one of my favorite songs. It was so exciting to me to be able to do this with my close collaborator and one of my best friends, Teddy Geiger, for a cause that is very close to our hearts,” Shawn said.

All net profit from the sales of the “Under Pressure” cover will be donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust which helps the worldwide fight against HIV/AIDS.

Don’t stop them now!
