Currently sitting in the big red chairs are John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, and Blake Shelton. Gwen will be vacating hers to make room for Nick.
“I’m so excited to be a part of The Voice family,” he said. “It’s such an awesome group of individuals, and I can’t wait to help these artists really build and hone in to find their unique voices.”
Nick’s appeared on Songland earlier this year, where songwriters compete for a chance to have their work selected by a major recording artist, seems to have stood him in good stead.
“As a member of one of the hottest pop groups, Nick’s success in navigating all aspects of the music industry is exceptional,” said President of NBC’s alternative and reality group, Meredith Ahr. “We were so impressed by his innate musicality, technical aptitude and passion that he brought to Songland earlier this year and know he will be an incredible fit as a coach on *The Voice.* We are excited to see Nick lend his mentorship, relatability and breadth of knowledge to a new crop of artists.”
Nick will be in the red chair next spring.

]]>After 16 seasons as a coach on the singing competition, the Maroon 5 frontman is hanging up his vocal gloves.
The announcement of the “Girls Like You” singer’s departure was made by host of the show, Carson Daly.
“[Adam’ll] always be a cherished member of The Voice family,” Daly said on Today. “Of course, we wish him nothing but the best.”
On Instagram, Levine addresses his leaving, calling his time with the show “a life shaping experience.”
Levine has served on the coaching panel since the show’s inception, with his absence being felt by his fellow judges.
“Having a hard time wrapping my head around Adam not being at The Voice anymore,” wrote Blake Shelton on Twitter. “After 16 seasons that changed both of our lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet. Gonna miss working with that idiot.”
Newest coach Kelly Clarkson also expressed her sadness.
“Found out last night about Adam leaving The Voice & while I get that he’s been doing the show 4 a while & wants to step away, it will be weird showing up 4 work & he’s not there. To start an amazing show from the ground up is a big deal!”
But all is not lost as a familiar face is taking Levine’s place.
Gwen Stefani!
And we’re sure Shelton is super happy — he and the “Hollaback Girl” singer have been dating since 2015!
