]]>Second, Jean Grey is one of the most compelling characters in the franchise and since X-Men: The Last Stand, fans have been calling for the storyline to be revisited. Lastly, it stars Sophie Turner, who won over a huge host of fans worldwide thanks to her superb performance as Sansa Stark in the Game of Thrones season. So where did it all go wrong?
X-Men: Dark Phoenix currently sits at a dismal 23% on Rotten Tomatoes. Before the film even came out, critics slashed it, resulting in the lowest ever box-office opening in X-Men History. In fact, the film ended up losing an estimated $100 million as a result.
The movie went onto gross $296.3 million at the box office, a measly taking compared to Deadpool 2, which took home $778.9 million. The reason? It really wasn’t that good and was a deeply disappointing end to the X-Men franchise.

]]>Now that Disney owns Fox, hopefully, we’ll be seeing the X-Men introduced. MCU films are always brilliant, so introducing some of Marvel’s most loved characters not only make sense from a fans point of view but from a business point of view. Let’s see those mutants.
After Civil War and Infinity War, the next likely complete MCU event could be Secret Invasion. In this, a race of aliens called the Skrull infiltrating the superheroes of Earth with their shape-shifting abilities. Not knowing who is a Skrull, who is real and who they can trust will make an excellent film.

]]>The irreplaceable Hugh Jackman has a serious case of the paranoias — he fears his 17-year stint as The X-Men’s Wolverine is ending with a whimper.
20th Century Fox better beware before he shows his claws. Although, Jackman admits he’s been playing the character for a long time, it’s hard not to register the disappointment in his words.
Speaking to The Huffington Post, Jackman does his best to appear chipper, “And I’m sure that they’ve already started casting, you know? Someone may sign up for an 11-picture deal, as we speak.”
He was tight-lipped on the Deadpool gossip: “Hmmm, I can’t … no. Nope,” he said. “But, I am really good mates with [Reynolds] so …”
The brief encounter of Wolverine and Deadpool in the 2009 X-Men Origins may not be so brief next time, as Jackman hinted to IGN: “We sort of took a pretty strong choice on Deadpool, where we kind of stitched him up,” said Jackman.
“And I love the character of Deadpool and I think that the sort of badass, fast-talking, funny, annoying Deadpool vs Wolverine would still be cool. We’ve sort of done it, but I think we could have done that much better.”
Let’s hope this is one rumour we can shred.
