After it was pushed back, we momentarily forgot about the latest addition to the X-men universe. Dark Phoenix will tell the story of Jene Grey as she battles her powers and becomes the most powerful enemy of the X-Men yet.
We were made familiar with the Phoenix story in 2006 when we watched X-Men: The Last Stand. Now though, Sophie Turner will be taking on the iconic role. After watching Turner get knocked down over and over again in her role as Game of Throne’s Sansa Stark, it will be a pleasure to watch the actress take on the role of an extremely powerful being.
The trailer shows Jene Grey in pieces after she attacks her friend, Mystqiue (Jennifer Lawrence). What starts out as Jene battling the forces inside her eventually transforms into her embracing her powers to become a God. Professor X exclaims: “She’ll kill us all.”

It is great to see the return of the reprised X-Men cast, including the return of Evan Peters as Quicksilver. It is sad to see the X-men all back together without Hugh Jackman as Wolverine but at least now the other characters have a chance to steal the limelight.
Dark Phoenix will be released June 7, 2019.
