Vanessa Kirby reigned as Princess Margaret on “The Crown,” an acclaimed series on Netflix. But now her reign is over and the actress is about to take a role on the big screen. Kirby is making her final negotiations to star in a “Fast and Furious” spin-off opposite Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham entitled “Hobbs and Shaw.”

David Leitch, the director of the wildly successful “Deadpool 2” is also on-board along with Johnson and Statham. The pair will reprise their roles from the “Fast and Furious” movies as Johnson plays special agent Luke Hobbs and Statham plays Deckard Shaw, the criminal mastermind. Kirby, on the other hand, will play the role of Shaw’s sister who is an agent of MI-5.

Chris Morgan, the architect of “Fast and Furious” wrote the script and production of the film will start this fall. The details of the plot are still vague but the main idea is that the duo who are usually at-odds will team up. Neal Moritz, the producer of “Fast and Furious” will also produce this film.

Mark Sourian, the Executive VP of Production, along with VP Jay Polidoro will oversee the film’s production at Universal. Since Johnson arrived at the fifth installment of the franchise, Universal kept on trying to find a way for the character to star in a standalone movie. When they saw the great chemistry between Johnson’s characyer and Statham’s in the 7th film, they saw the chance to come up with a potential spinoff. “Hobbs and Shaw” will hit the theaters on July 26, 2019.
