The Critics’ Choice Association introduced a whole new award show that celebrates genre movies and TV shows three years ago, and they’re doing it again in 2023. Nominees for the Critics’ Choice Super Awards have been unveiled, and The Batman is leading the way with six nods.
The Batman is one of the contenders for the best superhero film, but it will have to face tough competition in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, DC League of Super-Pets, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder. As for the rest of its nominations, they all went to the film’s cast, including Robert Pattinson, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, and Zoe Kravitz.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever scored a total of five nominations, closely followed by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Bullet Train with four apiece. The list of major contenders also includes RRR, Top Gun: Maverick, and Pearl with three nods each.
TV field is just as crowded, and The Boys is leading the way with four nominations, including best superhero series. The list of the most-nominated shows also includes Evil, House of the Dragon, and What We Do in the Shadows with four nominations each.
The Critics’ Choice Super Awards will come back to honor the best action, superhero, horror, science fiction, fantasy, and animated movies of the year on March 16.
