Gleeson, who played the sadistic King Joffrey on HBO’s critically acclaimed drama, is returning to TV after a six-year hiatus from acting. 

The 27-year-old Brit has joined the BBC comedy Out of Her Mind. The series hails from comedienne Sara Pascoe, as well as Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who are on board as executive producers.

According to Variety, the series will explore heartbreak, family and how to survive them both.

“Out Of Her Mind is a direct expression of my mind. We’ve turned my brain into a theme-park, and everyone’s invited,” said Pascoe. “The cast are INCREDIBLE and I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve made.”

In March 2018, former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal, and his daughter Yulia were admitted to the hospital in Salisbury after being poisoned by a Soviet-era nerve agent called Novichok. 

Britain accused Russia of the assassination attempt, which Moscow denied. 

Anne-Marie Duff and Rafe Spall have been announced to star in the upcoming drama which will consist of three parts and focuses on the impact that the incident had on the local community, and it will recount the story of how ordinary people and public services reacted to the situation. 

“It’s a privilege to be able to tell the story of people who were deeply affected by the events in Salisbury,” said series writers Adam Patterson and Declan Lawn. “During our months of research, we have been humbled to hear their stories and to be able to tell them in this drama.”

In addition to Duff and Spall, the series will star Mark Addy, Annabel Scholey, Johnny Harris, and MyAnna Buring, while Saul Dibb is set to direct.

The Venom actor has signed on to star in an adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

The Charles Dickens classic tells the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by 3 spirits on Christmas Eve.

The BBC production comes from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, and will also be executive produced by Hardy.

So what role is the 41 year old set to play?

“I’m not going to reveal, but he’s going to be pivotal to the whole thing,” said Knight.

We are likely to receive 3 one-hour episodes, with production expected to start soon in order to have the series on air by Christmas.
