Beyoncé created quite a splash with her new album Cowboy Carter, and its chart domination is finally upon us. Queen B hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for the eighth time as a solo artist, scoring the largest week of 2024 and setting several records in the process.

Cowboy Carter easily topped the Billboard 200 chart after earning 407,000 equivalent album units upon its debut, including 232,000 SEA units (equaling 300.41 million official streams), 7,000 TEA units, and 168,000 traditional album sales. Vinyl copies amounted to 62,000 of the pure album sales, helping Beyoncé score the largest vinyl week of her career.

Cowboy Carter also set a new record for the largest streaming week of Beyoncé’s career. This doesn’t come as a shocker since it previously became the most-streamed album in a single day this year on Spotify, with 76 million global streams, the highest number achieved by a Black woman in the platform’s history.

Beyoncé also made history on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart with Cowboy Carter, becoming the first Black woman to top this chart. This is the latest country-related record she broke with this album, after becoming the first Black female artist to top the Hot Country Songs chart with its lead single “Texas Hold ‘Em”.

Beyoncé put her own spin on country music with her new album Cowboy Carter, and she didn’t do it all alone. Queen B shared the spotlight with many amazing artists and gave us several collaborations that knocked us off our feet, starting with these five.

“Blackbird” Cover

Beyoncé’s cover of The Beatles classic “Blackbird” is one for the books and it sees her joining forces with some of country’s leading Black female artists, including Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, and Tiera Kennedy.

“Jolene” Cover

Beyoncé took inspiration from the country legend Dolly Parton and covered her timeless hit “Jolene” on Cowboy Carter. The defiant new version sees her rewriting its lyrics to reflect her own journey.

“Tyrant” ft. Dolly Parton

In addition to covering “Jolene”, Beyoncé also collaborated with Parton on two other songs. “Tyrant” emerged as our favorite, and its perfect mix of R&B and country sound makes it one of the album’s catchiest bops.

“II Most Wanted” ft. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé were both very open about their love for country long before fully embracing this genre, and their collaboration “II Most Wanted” is everything we’ve hoped for—and more!

“Levii’s Jeans” ft. Post Malone

Post Malone is one of the most unlikely collaborators featured on Cowboy Carter, but he was the perfect choice for “Levii’s Jeans”, which added a dash of playfulness to this album.

Beyoncé is getting ready to embrace country on her next album, and she opted for a title that perfectly reflects her genre shift. The release date of Queen B’s country-themed album is just two weeks away, and it will be called Act II: Cowboy Carter.

Cowboy Carter will be released on March 29 via Parkwood Entrainment and Beyoncé’s label teased its release by sharing a photo of saddle with a sash that features the album’s title. She’s previously given us a taste of things to come with the chart-topping single “Texas Hold ‘Em” and its companion “16 Carriages”.

Beyoncé’s decision to make a shift to country took some of her fans by surprise, but it makes total sense in the grand scheme of things. She grew up in Houston, Texas, and country music has always been a huge part of her childhood.

“I grew up going to the Houston rodeo every year. It was this amazing diverse and multicultural experience where there was something for every member of the family,” she previously told Harper’s Bazaar.

She decided to tackle this genre after researching its African-American roots and learning more about the overlooked history of the American Black cowboy. Cowboy Carter won’t be her first album to reclaim a genre that was first pioneered by Black artists—she did the same with house and dance music on Renaissance, and they’re both a part of a three-piece project.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour was one for history books, and she’s not ready to leave it behind just yet. Queen B announced Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, which chronicles the journey she embarked on during her latest world tour—and you can add it to your watch list this December.

Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé will hit the theaters on December 1, and it will capture “Beyoncé’s intention, hard work, involvement in every aspect of the production, her creative mind and purpose to create her legacy and master her craft”, according to its official logline.

This description may sound pretty vague, but Variety claims it means we’ll get to see much more than concert footage. In addition to chronicling the creative process of conceiving Beyoncé’s new album and the supporting tour, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé will also expect to feature highly-anticipated music videos associated with this album.

Renaissance World Tour kicked off with two concerts in Stockholm, Sweden back in May, and it included a total of 56 dates across North America and Europe. Ahead of its final concert in Kansas City, Missouri on October 1, this concert tour already made history as the highest-grossing tour by a female artist of all time.

This year’s BET Awards were one wild ride, and we witnessed a tie in one of the ceremony’s most important categories. BET voters struggled to make a choice between SZA’s SOS and Beyoncé’s Renaissance, and eventually gave the album of the year award to both.

The two R&B queens had to beat some tough competition to take the night’s biggest award home. The album of the year field also included Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, Her Loss by Drake and 21 Savage, DJ Khaled’s God Did, Chris Brown’s Breezy, and GloRilla’s Anyways, Life’s Great.

In addition to tying for album of the year, both SZA and Beyoncé took two more trophies home. Beyoncé earned the BET Her Award and the Viewer’s Choice Award for her catchy single “Break My Soul,” while SZA was honored as the best female R&B/pop artist and won the award for video of the year with her viral hit “Kill Bill.”

When it comes to the movie field, it was a big night for Marvel’s superhero blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It’s beaten tough competition, including Creed 3, Nope, and The Woman King, to claim the title of the best movie, while its star Angela Bassett picked up a trophy for the best actress.

After a lot of anticipation, the Grammys finally returned to LA on Sunday and gave us another night to remember. Beyoncé made history as the most-awarded artist at the Grammys with a total of 32 wins, while Harry Styles and Lizzo picked up two of the night’s main awards.

This year’s ceremony was quite historic for Beyoncé, who scored a total of nine nominations to tie the all-time record for the most-nominated artist with her husband Jay-Z. She managed to win four awards on Sunday thanks to her new album Renaissance, becoming the most-awarded artist of all time with a total of 32 trophies.

Harry Styles also had a reason to celebrate after he walked away with two major awards thanks to the success of Harry’s House: album of the year and best pop vocal album. As for Lizzo, she defeated tough competition to win the record of the year with “About Damn Time”.

This year’s Grammy’s delivered a few shockers in the Big Four categories—most notably Bonnie Raitt’s unexpected win for the song of the year with “Just Like That”. It was equally surprising to see the jazz singer Samara Joy collect the trophy for the best new artist, beating the likes of Måneskin, Anitta, and Latto.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards were held on February 5 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with Trevor Noah returning as a host.

All five artists are in the running for one of the night’s biggest awards – album of the year. Beyoncé’s Renaissance, Lamar’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, Harry Styles’ Harry’s House, Adele’s 30, and Carlile’s In These Silent Days will have to face tough competition in Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti and Lizzo’s Special.

Fans went wild after Beyoncé dropped her first solo album in six years in late July and its success on the charts reflects our collective obsession with this record. Renaissance easily topped the Billboard 200 chart, scoring the biggest debut by a female artist.

Renaissance hit No. 1 with 332,000 equivalent album units earned during its first week on the chart, including 190,000 in album sales, 138,000 in SEA units (equaling to 179.06 million on-demand official streams of the album’s tracks), and 4,000 in TEA units.

In addition to scoring the biggest debut by a female artist, Renaissance set one more major milestone for 2022. It’s the first album released by a woman this year to hit No. 1. It also marks Beyoncé’s seventh solo No. 1 album, meaning that all of her solo records topped the Billboard 200 chart, making her the first artist to achieve this feat.

Renaissance was released on July 29, and its release was preceded by the lead single “Break My Soul”, which peaked at no. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It features collaborations with Beam, Grace Jones, and Tems, while Nova Wav, The-Dream, BloodPop, Skrillex, and Hit-Boy joined Beyoncé as some of the album’s producers.

It’s already been six years since Beyoncé dropped her seminal album Lemonade, and its follow-up is finally on the way. Queen B teased the release of her new album Renaissance last week, and she dropped the lead single “Break My Soul” just a few days later.

Renaissance is set to hit the shelves on July 29, and Beyoncé gave us a taste of things to come with the house-inspired bop “Break My Soul”. Variety reported that she’s been working on a multi-part album, featuring both dance and country tracks.

Renaissance marks Queen B’s first solo album since 2016 and she didn’t want to rush its release because she was having a lot of fun making it.

“I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio,” Beyoncé told Harper’s Bazaar last year.

Even though she didn’t drop a new solo album since 2016, Queen B worked on soundtrack albums The Lion King: The Gift and Black Is King, received an Oscar nod for the song “Be Alive” from the film King Richard and won two Grammy Awards alongside Megan Thee Stallion for the “Savage” remix.

The best original song category at the upcoming Oscars will feature some A-list names, and we finally know who’s official in the running. The Academy unveiled a shortlist of 15 songs in contentions for this award, and Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande are some of the artists who made the cut.

Beyoncé is in the running with “Be Alive” from King Richard, the true story of Richard Williams who helped his daughters Venus and Serena shoot for the stars and become tennis legends. Eilish made the cut with “No Time To Die”, the theme song from the latest James Bond movie.

Ariana Grande is in the running alongside Kid Cudi, with “Just Look Up” from Don’t Look Up. Their chances, however, are looking slim after they failed to score a Golden Globe nomination in the same category.

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “Dos Oruguitas” from Encanto, Jennifer Hudson’s “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” from Respect, and Jay-Z’s “Guns Go Bang” from The Harder They Fall are also in the running for this prestigious award.

Only five songs will make the cut and they’re traditionally performed during the Oscars telecast. Nominations will be announced on February 8th, 2022, while the Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 27th, 2022.

Full Shortlist for Best Original Song:

“So May We Start?” from Annette

“Down To Joy” from Belfast

“Right Where I Belong” from Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road

“Automatic Woman” from Bruised

“Dream Girl” from Cinderella

“Beyond The Shore” from CODA

“The Anonymous Ones” from Dear Evan Hansen

“Just Look Up” from Don’t Look Up

“Dos Oruguitas” from Encanto

“Somehow You Do” from Four Good Days

“Guns Go Bang” from The Harder They Fall

“Be Alive” from King Richard

“No Time To Die” from No Time to Die

“Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” from Respect

“Your Song Saved My Life” from Sing 2

We’ve spent months waiting for the Recording Academy to unveil nominations for this year’s Grammy Awards and they certainly didn’t disappoint. Beyoncé is leading the way with nine nods, closely followed by Kendrick Lamar with eight and Adele, Harry Styles, and Brandi Carlile with seven.

Many of the artists running for album of the year are also among the main competitors for song and record of the year. The list of nominees in both of these categories includes the likes of Adele’s “Easy on Me”, Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul”, Harry Styles’ “As It Was”, Lizzo’s “About Damn Time”, and Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5”.

The list of major nominees also includes the likes of Mary J. Blige, Future, and record producer The-Dream with six nods each. The Grammy Awards ceremony will be held on February 5, 2023, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with CBS and Paramount+ broadcasting the live show.
