]]>Gunn announced his plans to bring Superman back to the big screen in a lengthy Twitter thread, revealing it’s the first chapter of the connected DC universe, titled “Chapter One, Gods and Monsters.”
The official synopsis for this project describes Superman as “the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness” and it “tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas.”
This announcement comes after months of speculations about where DC Studios is headed after Gunn and Safran took the reins last fall. All hell broke loose when they decided to let Henry Cavill go, sparking intense backlash online because he announced his return as Superman just two months prior.
Superman: Legacy will hit the theaters on July 11, 2025, and DC Studios announced several follow-ups, including The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Swamp Thing.

Despite Sly being an iconic movie star, most people still don’t have any idea what an amazing actor this guy is,” alongside a picture of the two.
Stallone added in a post of his own, “Working with this incredible Director on this astounding project has made this an amazing year. I am a very lucky man to be surrounded by such talent.”
