]]>The Challenger draws inspiration from Meredith E. Bagby’s book The New Guys, which centered on some of NASA’s most groundbreaking astronomers. Sally Ride made the cut after making history as the first American woman to fly to space, in addition to being the first openly LGBT+ astronaut to do so.
Kyra Sedgwick’s Big Swing Productions is producing the film alongside Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners. Stewart herself decided to hop on board as a producer via Nevermind Production, after becoming determined to get this project off the ground.
“Who better to play Sally Ride than one of the great actors of her generation? As they say in Hollywood, passion wins the day. Her passion for being an executive producer is vast… She was so stunning in these pitch meetings and that was a huge part of why it has been so competitive,” Sedgwick told Deadline.
Stewart most recently starred in the hit Sundance drama Love Lies Bleeding, and will next be seen in post-apocalyptic drama Love Me and road comedy Sacramento.

]]>That’s according to one of the angels herself.
It was announced earlier this month that a reboot of the classic 1970’s show, about 3 private investigators and their disembodied voice of a boss, Charlie, would be helmed by Pitch Perfect 2 director, Elizabeth Banks, with Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinksa starring as the famous trio.
Kristen has said of the film: “The re-imagining is so grounded and well-intentioned and really shows the way women can work together now. It tries to be warm and funny, but it lacks a kitsch element that we have seen before that works so well.”
The Twilight actress is currently amidst fight-training in preparation for the project which has no filming date as yet.
She also revealed that she has not yet met her fellow Angels but will be doing so very soon, and has been in constant contact with Elizabeth.
The 44-year-old will be pulling double duty on the film as she will also be starring as the Angel’s handler, Bosley.
We can’t wait to wish them all “good morning!”
