]]>“Fortnight” defeated Ariana Grande’s “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)”, Billie Eilish’s “Lunch”, Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red”, Eminem’s “Houdini”, and SZA’s “Snooze” to win video of the year, and this wasn’t a first for Swift.
She holds the record for most wins in this category with five, having previously won with “Bad Blood” (2015), “You Need to Calm Down” (2019), “All Too Well” (2022), and “Anti-Hero” (2023).
In addition to being named the video of the year, “Fortnight” led the way in four more categories – best collaboration, song of the summer, best editing, and best direction. Swift won two more Moon Person trophies on her own, including artist of the year and best pop.
Despite dominating this year’s MTV VMAs, the award for song of the year slipped through Swift’s fingers and went to Sabrina Carpenter. She won big with her smash hit “Espresso”, which also defeated Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em”, Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me”, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”, and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control”.
The 2024 MTV VMAs took place on September 11 at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, with Megan Thee Stallion serving as a host.

]]>The post Taylor Swift Dominated the 2023 MTV VMAs With Nine Wins appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>The race for video of the year was pretty tight, but Swift managed to beat tough competition in Doja Cat’s “Attention”, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy”, and SZA’s “Kill Bill”.
She collected several more, mostly technical, awards thanks to “Anti-Hero”, including song of the year, best pop, best direction, best visual effects, best editing, and best cinematography. In total, Swift won nine out of eleven awards she was nominated for, including artist of the year, show of the summer with The Eras Tour, and album of the year with Midnights.
Swift’s success at this year’s MTV VMAs was quite ground-breaking because she took her career total to 23 awards, only two behind Beyoncé. She was also only one award away from equaling Peter Gabriel’s record for most MTV VMAs won in a single year.
The 2023 MTV Video Music took place on September 12 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, with Nicki Minaj serving as the show’s host.

Shakira is expected to perform a medley of her biggest hits at the ceremony and make history as the first South American artist to take the Video Vanguard Award home. She’s following in the footsteps of such trailblazing artists as Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, and Jennifer Lopez.
Shakira is off another landmark year, and she gave us one of the biggest viral hits of 2023 with “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”. She also teased her next album with singles “Acróstico” and “Copa Vacía” ft. Manuel Turizo, and collaborated with Karol G on “TQG”.
The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards will return to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on September 12, and Taylor Swift is leading the list of nominees with a total of eight nods.

]]>The post Cardi B pranked everyone at the VMAs – even her husband! appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>The audience thought they were getting a first look at adorable baby Kulture Kiari, as Cardi B – who spectacularly opened the VMAs at Radio City Music Hall – held what looked like a baby wrapped in a blanket in her arms.
Sadly, baby Kulture was nowhere to be seen, as the Bodak Yellow star was actually holding a shiny Moon Person trophy instead. Savage!
While we (and we assume the rest of the audience) saw the funny side, Cardi B mentioned that husband and baby daddy Offset was not too amused…
“Set said ‘I was sooo mad, when I saw you on stage with that blanket. I thought you was going to show Kulture,’” Cardi B told her fans on Twitter after the show.
We don’t think anything will bring Cardi B down after last night’s VMAs though, as she walked away with an impressive three gongs.
Cardi B walked away with Song of the Summer award for “I Like It,” as well as the Collaboration award for “Dinero” with Jennifer Lopez and DJ Khaled and perhaps best of all, the coveted Best New Artist accolade.
Congratulations, Cardi B – your comedy and musical talents are greatly appreciated!

]]>The award, which was initiated in 1984 and renamed after Michael Jackson in 1991, is considered similar to that of a lifetime achievement award.
Previous winners have included the artist after whom it was named, The Beatles, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, U2, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and last year’s winner, Pink.
Come the 20th of August, Jenny from the Block will join their ranks, as well as getting loud on stage to rock Radio City Music Hall.
Despite being nominated for 22 VMAs in her time, Miss Lopez has only won twice. Though she can change that this year as her song Dinero has been nominated for Best Latin and Best Collaboration.
“It is amazing, honestly. Growing up on MTV and watching all my idols get this award… To be the recipient this year, I can’t even believe it. I’m so excited,” said Jennifer.
She definitely has our love!

]]>Bruce Gillmer, Paramount’s president of music, music talent, programming, and events, announced Shakira as the latest honoree, and described her as “a true global force who continues to inspire & influence the masses with her unique, musical prowess.”

]]>The post This Year’s MTV VMA Vanguard Award Goes To… appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
