Taylor Swift is no stranger to winning big at the MTV Video Music Awards, and her domination continued at this year’s ceremony. She added seven more trophies to her impressive collection, including another video of the year award for “Fortnight” ft. Post Malone.

“Fortnight” defeated Ariana Grande’s “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)”, Billie Eilish’s “Lunch”, Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red”, Eminem’s “Houdini”, and SZA’s “Snooze” to win video of the year, and this wasn’t a first for Swift.

She holds the record for most wins in this category with five, having previously won with “Bad Blood” (2015), “You Need to Calm Down” (2019), “All Too Well” (2022), and “Anti-Hero” (2023).

In addition to being named the video of the year, “Fortnight” led the way in four more categories – best collaboration, song of the summer, best editing, and best direction. Swift won two more Moon Person trophies on her own, including artist of the year and best pop.

Despite dominating this year’s MTV VMAs, the award for song of the year slipped through Swift’s fingers and went to Sabrina Carpenter. She won big with her smash hit “Espresso”, which also defeated Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em”, Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me”, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”, and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control”.

The 2024 MTV VMAs took place on September 11 at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, with Megan Thee Stallion serving as a host.

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards are just a few weeks away, and we finally know who’ll host the upcoming ceremony. Megan Thee Stallion, who’s coming into this year’s show with five nominations under her belt, will be in charge of hosting the festivities.

Stallion will make her awards show hosting debut at this year’s VMAs, but something tells us she’ll feel right at home on that stage. She previously served as the host of Saturday Night Live, and made a pivot to acting in recent years with roles in TV shows Good Girls and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Stallion is a recipient of two MTV VMAs for Best Power Anthem in 2019 for “Hot Girl Summer” and Best Hip-hop in 2020 for “Savage”. She’s in the running for five awards this year, including best collaboration for “Wanna Be” ft. GloRilla, plus best hip-hop, best direction, best visual effects, and best art direction for “Boa”.

MTV also recently announced a list of artists who’ll perform at the upcoming ceremony, including Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, LISA, Rauw Alejandro, and Sabrina Carpenter, plus Katy Perry, the recipient of this year’s Video Vanguard Award.

The 2024 MTV VMAs will take place at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on September 11.

The MTV Video Music Awards are returning to New York in about a month, and we finally know who’ll be competing for those shiny trophies. Taylor Swift and Post Malone are leading the way in the wake of the chart-topping success of their collaboration “Fortnight”.

“Fortnight” will enter the ceremony as the night’s most-nominated song and one of the contenders for the video of the year. Ariana Grande’s “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)”, Billie Eilish’s “Lunch”, Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red”, Eminem’s “Houdini”, and SZA’s “Snooze” have also been nominated in this field.

“Fortnight” also secured a nod for the coved song of the year award, and it’s the only video of the year nominee to make the cut. “Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em”, Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me”, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso”, and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” took the remaining five spots in this category.

Swift and Malone will enter the ceremony with ten and nine nominations, respectively, followed by Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Eminem with six nods each. Megan Thee Stallion and SZA are right behind with five nominations apiece.

The 2024 MTV VMAs ceremony will take place on September 10 at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

Taylor Swift never had any trouble stealing the show at the MTV Video Music Video Awards, and she did it again! She was crowned as the biggest winner of this year’s MTV VMAs after collecting nine awards, including the coveted video of the year with “Anti-Hero”.

The race for video of the year was pretty tight, but Swift managed to beat tough competition in Doja Cat’s “Attention”, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy”, and SZA’s “Kill Bill”.

She collected several more, mostly technical, awards thanks to “Anti-Hero”, including song of the year, best pop, best direction, best visual effects, best editing, and best cinematography. In total, Swift won nine out of eleven awards she was nominated for, including artist of the year, show of the summer with The Eras Tour, and album of the year with Midnights.

Swift’s success at this year’s MTV VMAs was quite ground-breaking because she took her career total to 23 awards, only two behind Beyoncé. She was also only one award away from equaling Peter Gabriel’s record for most MTV VMAs won in a single year.

The 2023 MTV Video Music took place on September 12 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, with Nicki Minaj serving as the show’s host.

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards are just two weeks away, and we already know who’ll walk away with one of the ceremonies’ most prestigious honors. Shakira has been announced as the latest recipient of the honorary Video Vanguard Award.

Bruce Gillmer, Paramount’s president of music, music talent, programming, and events, announced Shakira as the latest honoree, and described her as “a true global force who continues to inspire & influence the masses with her unique, musical prowess.”

Shakira is expected to perform a medley of her biggest hits at the ceremony and make history as the first South American artist to take the Video Vanguard Award home. She’s following in the footsteps of such trailblazing artists as Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, and Jennifer Lopez.

Shakira is off another landmark year, and she gave us one of the biggest viral hits of 2023 with “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”. She also teased her next album with singles “Acróstico” and “Copa Vacía” ft. Manuel Turizo, and collaborated with Karol G on “TQG”.

The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards will return to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on September 12, and Taylor Swift is leading the list of nominees with a total of eight nods.

Taylor Swift came into this year’s MTV VMAs as one of the favorites to take top awards home and she certainly delivered! She won the trophy for video of the year with “All Too Well” and used this moment to announce the release of her upcoming album Midnights.

Swift was one of the biggest winners at this year’s MTV VMAs, and also won awards for best longform video and best direction. The night’s most memorable moment came when she announced her next album is hitting the shelves on October 21, and later described it as “a journey through terrors and sweet dreams”.

Surprisingly enough, Swift wasn’t even the night’s biggest winner. Jack Harlow was the most-awarded artist with a total of four trophies—song of summer with “First Class”, and three more awards that he shared with Lil Nas X for their chart-topping single “Industry Baby”, including best collaboration, best art direction, and best visual effects. Harry Styles was right behind with three awards, including album of the year for Harry’s House.

MTV Video Music Awards took place on August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Nicki Minaj, who collected this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, cohosted the show alongside LL Cool J and Jack Harlow.

Jennifer Lopez may not be your mama, but she is the recipient of this year’s Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The award, which was initiated in 1984 and renamed after Michael Jackson in 1991, is considered similar to that of a lifetime achievement award.

Previous winners have included the artist after whom it was named, The Beatles, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, U2, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and last year’s winner, Pink.

Come the 20th of August, Jenny from the Block will join their ranks, as well as getting loud on stage to rock Radio City Music Hall.

Despite being nominated for 22 VMAs in her time, Miss Lopez has only won twice. Though she can change that this year as her song Dinero has been nominated for Best Latin and Best Collaboration.

“It is amazing, honestly. Growing up on MTV and watching all my idols get this award… To be the recipient this year, I can’t even believe it. I’m so excited,” said Jennifer.

She definitely has our love!

Another MTV Video Music Award ceremony is behind us, and it was certainly a night remember. Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, and BTS enjoyed it more than anyone since they walked away with three trophies each at the end of the night.

Lil Nas X had tough competition in Cardi B, The Weeknd, and Ed Sheeran in the most important category of the night – video of the year. He managed to come out victorious with his smash hit “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)”, and also picked up awards for best direction and best visual effects.

It was also a big night for Olivia Rodrigo, who was crowned as the best new artist, in addition to winning awards for song of the year and push performance of the year with her breakout hit “Drivers License”. BTS walked away with three awards—group of the year, best K-pop, and song of the summer with “Butter”.

Doja Cat was in charge of hosting the ceremony, which took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on September 12th. She also served as one of the performers, along with Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, and Camila Cabello, among others.
