]]>The Harder They Fall walked away with some of the biggest awards of the night, including best picture and best director for Jeymes Samuel. It also collected the trophy for the best ensemble, while Samuel, Kid Cudi, and Jay-Z picked up the award for best music.
It was also a big night for King Richard, the tale of Richard Williams who helped his daughter Venus and Serena reach for the stars and become tennis champions. Will Smith won the award for best actor, with his co-star Aunjanue Ellis picking up the trophy for best supporting actress.
AAFCA president and co-founder Gil Robertson described 2022 as a fantastic year for film and said that this year’s winners “not only entertained us but educated and inspired us and we’re looking forward to celebrating them at the AAFCA Awards.”
The list of major winners also includes Jennifer Hudson, Corey Hawkins, and Adam McKay and they’ll all be officially honored on March 2nd in Los Angeles.

]]>After paused production once before back in mid-March during the start of the pandemic, the streamer has paused production on The Harder They Fall after a member of the production team tested positive for COVID-19.
The film, penned by Boaz Yakin and directed by Jeymes Samuel, follows an outlaw who discovers that the man who killed his parents has been released from prison. He then forms a gang to help him as he seeks revenge.
Also starring in the film are Regina Kin, Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, LaKeith Stanfield, and Delroy Lindo.
Elba was one of the first stars to publicly confirm they contracted COVID-19 at the onset of the pandemic, along with his wife, Sabrina Dhowre Elba. He has sense recovered.
It’s unclear when filming will resume. Netflix did not comment.

]]>Jeymes Samuel will be making his directorial debut and producing is Jay-Z, James Lassiter, and Lawrence Bender. Jay-Z and Samuel will write and produce the music for the film. The pair previously worked together for the Great Gatsby soundtrack.
The Netflix film is co-written by Samuel and Boaz Yakin and it’s about outlaw Nat Love (Johnathan Majors) who learns that the man (Elba) who killed his parents two decades prior is being released from prison and he decides to gather his gang to seek revenge on the situation.
You can catch Elba in the much-anticipated adaptation of the Broadway musical Cats in December and Concrete Boys, which just started filming.
