The Zombieland sequel is finally on its way.
It’s been 10 years since Zombieland had us both on the edge of our seats and in stitches. It has been announced, however, that Zombieland 2 is in the works and will reunite the original cast.
Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin will all be returning for the sequel. Ruben Fleischer, who directed the original and is currently working on the upcoming Venom movie, will also be on board. Zombieland and Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will pen the script.
The sequel is due to go into production at the start of next year for a 2019 Halloween time release. If the schedule is kept, the movie will be released in time for Zombieland’s 10 year anniversary.
Colombia Pictures president Sanford Panitch said in a statement: “This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time – and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse, and Abigail.
“These are some of the most in-demand actors and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters. We are thrilled Ruben was willing to come back to direct the sequel, as his work on Venom has been truly amazing.”
