]]>With 2.61 million album-equivalent units during its debut week, Tortured Poets scored the second-largest week for any album on the Billboard 200 chart, behind Adele’s 25. It sold a staggering 859,000 vinyl copies alone, and also scored the largest streaming week in the chart’s history, with 891.37 million official streams across 31 songs.
Tortured Poets is Swift’s 14th album to hit No. 1 in the US, helping her tie Jay-Z’s record for the most chart-topping albums among soloists. It also scored the biggest sales week for any vinyl album in the modern era, the largest sales week of Swift’s career, and third-largest on the Billboard 200 chart overall.
Tortured Poets did just as great on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where 14 of its songs claimed the top spots for the first time in history. By doing so, they brought Swift’s total of the top ten hits to 59, making her the first female artist to cross the 50-songs mark. Its lead single “Fortnight” ft. Post Malone debuted atop the chart, helping Swift tie Ariana Grande’s record for most No. 1 debuts among women.

]]>“Too Sweet” reached new heights after generating 35.6 million streams, 14.1 million radio airplay audience impressions, and selling 6,000 copies to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This moment was a long time coming, after we’ve seen this song top the charts all around the world, from the UK to Australia.
Hozier admitted he was “both thrilled and taken massively by surprise by such a staggering reaction” to this song in a video on social media. He also took a moment to thank his fans, adding “It means the world that you’re enjoying this song so much.”
“Too Sweet” was released as a part of Hozier’s EP Unheard, which hit the shelves on March 22 and featured four previously unreleased songs intended for his latest studio album Unreal Unearth. It debuted at No. 5 following its release, becoming Hozier’s first song since his breakout hit “Take Me To Church” to break into the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

]]>Released as the lead single from Tortured Poets, “Fortnight” sees Swift joining forces with Post Malone. It perfectly illustrates the album’s themes and serves as the string connecting the rest of the album.
Songs on Swift’s latest album walk a fun line between vulnerable and vengeful, and “So Long, London” is definitely one of its most personal songs—and also the very best.
Fans believe that many of the songs on Swift’s latest album are inspired by her brief relationship with Matty Healy, and she’s given us many Easter eggs on “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived”.
In addition to seeing her explore another doomed romance, “But Daddy I Love Him” also sees Swift getting brutally honest about the parasocial relationship the public has with her, with the scathing line “God save the most judgmental creeps /Who say they want what’s best for me.”
At its core, Tortured Poets is a vindictive breakup album, but it also features a few songs that are just there for fun, and the Florence Welch collaboration “Florida!!!” is a case in point.

]]>The Tanu Muino-directed visual sees Lipa showing off her best moves at the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc in Barcelona. She’s surrounded by a group of synchronized swimmers, who climb the pool tower by the end of the video, and finish their elaborate choreography with Lipa delivering the last line, “You think I’m gonna fall for an illusion?”
“Illusions” was one of the songs that initially inspired her new album Radical Optimism, and she felt things were going in the right direction after recording it.
“When Kevin [Parker] and Danny [L Harle] came together and it was the live drums and the synths and the big music breakdown, in my head the big dance moment, when all those came together it was just a feeling. I had a feeling and I was like, now I have something to bounce off of,” she told Variety.
Radical Optimism will hit the shelves on May 3, and “Illusion” is the third single released from this album, following “Houdini” and “Training Season”.

Eilish isn’t planning to drop any singles ahead of the album’s release because she sees it as a cohesive collection of songs that should be listened to entirety from beginning to end.

]]>Cowboy Carter easily topped the Billboard 200 chart after earning 407,000 equivalent album units upon its debut, including 232,000 SEA units (equaling 300.41 million official streams), 7,000 TEA units, and 168,000 traditional album sales. Vinyl copies amounted to 62,000 of the pure album sales, helping Beyoncé score the largest vinyl week of her career.
Cowboy Carter also set a new record for the largest streaming week of Beyoncé’s career. This doesn’t come as a shocker since it previously became the most-streamed album in a single day this year on Spotify, with 76 million global streams, the highest number achieved by a Black woman in the platform’s history.
Beyoncé also made history on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart with Cowboy Carter, becoming the first Black woman to top this chart. This is the latest country-related record she broke with this album, after becoming the first Black female artist to top the Hot Country Songs chart with its lead single “Texas Hold ‘Em”.

]]>Beyoncé’s cover of The Beatles classic “Blackbird” is one for the books and it sees her joining forces with some of country’s leading Black female artists, including Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, and Tiera Kennedy.
Beyoncé took inspiration from the country legend Dolly Parton and covered her timeless hit “Jolene” on Cowboy Carter. The defiant new version sees her rewriting its lyrics to reflect her own journey.
In addition to covering “Jolene”, Beyoncé also collaborated with Parton on two other songs. “Tyrant” emerged as our favorite, and its perfect mix of R&B and country sound makes it one of the album’s catchiest bops.
Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé were both very open about their love for country long before fully embracing this genre, and their collaboration “II Most Wanted” is everything we’ve hoped for—and more!
Post Malone is one of the most unlikely collaborators featured on Cowboy Carter, but he was the perfect choice for “Levii’s Jeans”, which added a dash of playfulness to this album.

]]>The lyrics of Rodrigo’s latest single perfectly capture the destructive need to know more about your partner’s dating history. “I know her star sign, I know her blood type,” she sings before delivering the song’s explosive chorus, and what we see on screen perfectly captures her all-consuming feeling of jealousy.
Rodrigo is the only girl wearing black in the room of pageant queens attending a ballroom party for girls who all once dated the same guy. They all wear sashes that reflect their history together, ranging from “Miss Thought She Was the One” to “Miss Mom’s Favorite”.
“Obsessed” was released as the lead single from Guts (Spilled), which also features songs “Scared of My Guitar”, “Stranger”, “Girl I’ve Always Been”, and “So American”. They were previously featured on some vinyl editions of Rodrigo’s sophomore studio album before its deluxe edition hit the shelves on March 22.
The original edition of Guts also produced hit singles “Vampire”, “Bad Idea Right?”, and “Get Him Back”, and Rodrigo is promoting it with a tour across North America and Europe this spring and summer.

To make the whole thing even better, she also topped the Hot 100 chart with her latest single “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)”. This song drew in pretty impressive numbers during its debut week, hitting No. 1 with 32.6 million streams, 4.6 million radio airplay audience impressions, and 9,000 in sales.
“We Can’t Be Friends” is Grande’s seventh song to debut atop the Hot 100 chart, helping her break a record for most No. 1 debuts among women, previously held by Taylor Swift. Grande also made history as the first female artist with multiple chart-topping Hot 100 debuts from two different albums, having previously topped the chart with “Yes, And?”
