The post 2024 Emmy Awards: “Shōgun” Shatters Records With a Total of 18 Wins appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>It was pretty clear that this Sunday was going to be an epic night for Shōgun even before the Primetime Emmy Awards rolled around. This series won 14 trophies at the Creative Arts Emmy Award and added four more to its collection at the main event, setting a new record for most wins in a single year with 18. It also became the first non-English series to be named the outstanding drama series.
The Bear made history in the comedy field with a total of 11 awards – the most for a comedy series in a single year. It collected four major awards on Sunday night, but it failed to win the coveted outstanding comedy series award, which went to Hacks this time around.
Netflix’s Baby Reindeer lived up to the hype after coming into the ceremony as one of the front-runners in the limited series field. It won the Emmy for outstanding limited or anthology series, while its stars Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning were honored with acting awards.
The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards were held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 15, with Eugene Levy and Dan Levy sharing the hosting duties.

]]>The post 2024 Emmy Awards: Tony Hale & Sheryl Lee Ralph Announcing Nominations appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>The Television Academy chair Cris Abrego announced this amazing comedic duo will help them acknowledge excellence as they embark on a season of tremendous celebration.
“While this year has been marked by significant challenges for our industry and its workforce, there has been an abundance of remarkable programs, extraordinary performances and impactful storytelling,” said Abrego in a statement.
Hale is best known as the star of the cult comedy series Arrested Development and Veep, and he has three Emmy wins under his belt, including two for Veep and one Children’s and Family Emmy Award for The Mysterious Benedict Society. He most recently starred in Unfrosted and Inside Out 2, and will next appear in Netflix’s The Decameron.
Sheryl Lee Ralph is a Broadway veteran with a long list of TV and film credits under her belt, who recently won her first Emmy Award for her supporting turn in Abbott Elementary.
The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards will return to the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 15, and the host is yet to be announced.

]]>The post 2023 Emmy Nominations: HBO Reigns Supreme Thanks to “Succession”, “The Last of Us” & “The White Lotus” appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>Towering over the competition, the final season of Succession scored 27 nominations, including 14 nods in the major field. The Last of Us was right behind with 24 nods, but only five in the main field, due to a large number of technical and guest star nominations. As for The White Lotus, Mike White’s acclaimed series will be competing for 23 awards, including 12 in the main field, starting with countless acting nominations for its ensemble cast.
As the race for the best drama unfolds, these three shows will face stiff competition from Disney+ series Andor, the final season of AMC’s Better Call Saul, Netflix’s royal drama The Crown, HBO’s epic House of the Dragon, and Showtime’s gripping thriller Yellowjackets.
Ted Lasso is leading the way in the comedy field, with a total of 21 nods, starting with the best comedy series – where the list of contenders also includes Abbot Elementary, Barry, The Bear, Jury Duty, Wednesday, Only Murders in the Building, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
As for outstanding limited or anthology series, Netflix’s Beef leads the pack and it will have to defeat Daisy Jones & The Six, Fleishman Is in Trouble, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, and Obi-Wan Kenobi to take home the category’s main award.
The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled for September 18, but there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding the ceremony due to the ongoing WGA strike.

In addition to being crowned the outstanding limited series, its stars Murray Bartlett and Jennifer Coolidge picked up acting awards, while its creator Mike White collected two Emmys for writing and directing this series.
HBO also did pretty great in the drama categories, largely thanks to Succession. This show won its second Emmy for the outstanding drama series, in addition to picking up awards for outstanding supporting actor (Matthew Macfadyen) and outstanding writing (Jesse Armstrong).
When it comes to the comedy field, Ted Lasso led the way for the second year in a row. It won the awards for outstanding comedy series, outstanding lead and supporting actor in a comedy series (Jason Sudeikis and Brett Goldstein), and outstanding directing for a comedy series (MJ Delane).
The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards were held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on September 12. Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson was in charge of hosting the show.

]]>HBO’s satirical drama Succession topped the list of nominations with a total of 25 nods. It’s in the running for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards including the outstanding drama, but it will have to face tough competition in Better Call Saul, Euphoria, Ozark, Severance, Stranger Things, Squid Game, and Yellowjackets.
When it comes to the comedy categories, Ted Lasso is a clear favorite with 20 nominations, half of them in the main field. It’s closely followed by Hacks and Only Murders in the Building with a total of 17 nods, including outstanding comedy. The list of nominees for this award also includes the likes of Barry, Abbott Elementary, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and What We Do in the Shadows.
The White Lotus is the main contender for the limited series trophy with a total of 20 nods. Dopesick will be its biggest competitor, especially in the acting categories, where multiple actors from both shows scored several nominations.
The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards are taking place on September 12 at the Microsoft Theater in LA and they’ll be preceded by the Creative Arts Emmys one week earlier.

]]>The post 2021 Emmy Awards: “The Crown” Crowned As the Biggest Winner appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>The Crown mostly owes its Emmy success to its talented cast, with Josh O’Connor, Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, and Gillian Anderson all picking up awards in their respective acting categories. The Netflix hit show also won the award for the outstanding drama series, in addition to picking up trophies for outstanding directing and writing for a drama series.
Ted Lasso won four awards, including the outstanding comedy series and acting awards for three of its stars—Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein. HBO Max’s rookie comedy Hacks was a close second with three awards, and Jean Smart’s win for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series was one of the show’s best moments.
Mare of Easttown dominated the limited series field with three acting awards, won by its stars Kate Winslet, Evan Peters, and Julianne Nicholson. This HBO drama was also one of the favorites for the outstanding limited or anthology series, but The Queen’s Gambit eventually managed to come out victorious.
The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards were hosted by Cedric the Entertainer on September 19th.

By doing so, they transformed Schitt’s Creek into the first comedy series to sweep the four main acting categories in a single year.
Dan Levy also won Emmys for writing and directing this series, and became the first person to win an award in all four major disciplines in a single year. Combined with its Creative Arts Emmy wins, Schitt’s Creek became the most-awarded comedy series in a single year.
The list of major winners also included Succession and Watchmen with four wins each, including the best drama series and best-limited series, respectively. The Primetime Emmy Awards were held virtually on September 20th, with Jimmy Kimmel serving as the host.

]]>The post The 71st Primetime Emmys Set Date for 2019 Ceremony appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>Just two months after the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards honored the best in television, the Television Academy has announced the date for the next installment.
2019’s version of the Emmys has been set for the 22nd of September.
The Academy will be trying by all means to up the ratings experienced this year, which saw a record-low of 10.2 million viewers tune in for the ceremony on September 17th.
It marked an 11% decrease in total viewers from 2017, when the 69th annual ceremony drew 11.4 million viewers.
Despite the falling figures, the awards themselves made history with Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel — which scooped 8 awards — marking the first time a comedy from a streaming network has won Best Comedy Series in the history of the Awards.
It is still too early to tell whether Colin Jost and Michael Che of Saturday Night Live will reprise their roles as hosts.

]]>The White Lotus helped HBO dominate the Emmys this year, and won some of the night’s biggest awards in the limited series categories.

]]>Schitt’s Creek won the award for the best comedy series, and its stars Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Annie Murphy, and Dan Levy all picked up Emmys for their performances in this Canadian sitcom.
