]]>The prequel will be told in flashbacks, and it will tell the origin story of Simba’s father Mufasa. He’s a lost and alone orphaned cub, whose chance encounter with a sympathetic royal lion Taka set in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny and testing their bonds along the way.
Mufasa: The Lion King will mark the return of several voice actors from The Lion King remake, including Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, John Kani, and Beyoncé. Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, and Lennie James also star, while Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter is set to make her acting debut.
The Oscar-winning Moonlight director Barry Jenkins directed this project, while Jeff Nathanson wrote the script and Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the songs for the soundtrack. Mufasa: The Lion King was initially supposed to hit the theatres this summer, but its release date was pushed to December 20.

]]>Deadpool & Wolverine was years in the making, and it will mark the first Deadpool film in the MCU. The first trailer sees Wade Wilson taking many digs at Marvel, while also trying to convince Wolverine to join him on a mission to save the MCU, after being pulled from a peaceful life in his timeline by the Time Variance Authority.
Deadpool & Wolverine will feature many familiar faces – and we’re not just talking about Reynolds and Jackman. Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Brianna Hildebrand will return as their respective characters from the previous Deadpool movies, while Jennifer Garner will be back as Elektra. Emma Corrin will play the film’s main villain, Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen joined the cast as Paradox.
Deadpool & Wolverine is hitting the theatres on July 26, as the latest film in the MCU’s Phase Five. It will be followed by Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts next year.

]]>Unfrosted marks Seinfeld’s feature film directorial debut, and it will take us to 1960s Michigan. It will chronicle the battle between sworn cereal rivals Kellogg’s and Post to introduce a pastry that will change the face of breakfast, which eventually led to the creation of the iconic Pop-Tarts.
Seinfeld first started developing this idea as a joke with a fellow co-writer Spike Feresten, and they were pretty intrigued by Pop-Tarts’ origin story once they started digging.
“We love the idea of grown-up men in suits talking about cereal all day. The silliness of how they look and what they talk about just seemed like a fantastic world to be in” Seinfeld told Tudum.
Seinfeld will lead the star-studded cast alongside Melissa McCarthy and Jim Gaffigan. Amy Schumer, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Bobby Moynihan, Maria Bakalova, Max Greenfield, Bill Burr, Dan Levy, Christian Slater, and Hugh Grant will join them in supporting roles.
Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story will premiere on Netflix on May 3.

Kinds of Kindness will reunite Lanthimos with several of his past collaborators, starting with Stone, who recently won her second Oscar for leading his latest film Poor Things. Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley also star in both films, while Joe Alwyn previously appeared alongside Stone in The Favourite.
Hong Chau (The Whale), Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81), and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) will also star in this anthology film, which Lanthimos co-wrote with his frequent collaborator Efthimis Filippou.
Kinds of Kindness is scheduled for a June 21 release date via Searchlight Pictures.

]]>Directed by Fede Álvarez (Don’t Breathe), who co-wrote the script alongside Rodo Sayagues, Alien: Romulus takes us back to the roots of this beloved franchise. The standalone film is set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), and here’s what it has in store:
“While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe,” reads 20th Century Studio’s official synopsis.
Alien: Romulus will introduce us to a group of brand-new characters, played by Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), Isabela Merced (Madame Web), David Jonsson (Rye Lane), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and Aileen Wu.
Álvarez reached out to Ridley Scott and James Cameron while working on this film, and said they were impressed by his approach to the source material.
“Whatever Ridley said, Cameron said something different. They were all super smart comments, notes, and thoughts on the film and the filmmaking, et cetera, but both of them have completely different approaches,” Álvarez told The Hollywood Reporter.
Alien: Romulus is hitting the theaters on August 16, after the 20th Century Studio decided to shift from streaming to theatrical release.

“Bankruptcy threatens the factory he and his wife, Laura built from nothing ten years earlier… Meanwhile, his drivers’ passion to win pushes them to the edge as they launch into the treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Mille Miglia,” reads the film’s official logline.
In addition to Driver as Enzo Ferrari, this biopic will also star Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Sarah Gordon, Gabriel Leone, Jack O’Connell, and Patrick Dempsey.
Ferrari will have its highly-anticipated world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where it will be competing for the Golden Lion. It’s expected to premiere in the US theatres on December 25, after hitting the festival circuit this fall.

Foe centers on Hen and Junior, a young married couple living on a secluded farm, that has been in Junior’s family for generations. Their quiet life is thrown upside down when an uninvited stranger (Aaron Pierre) shows up at their door with a startling proposal, which sounds straight out of an episode of Black Mirror.
Mescal is fresh off his Oscar-nominated role in the indie drama Aftersun, and we’ll get to see him in All of Us Strangers alongside Andrew Scott later this year. Ronan most recently starred in murder mystery See How They Run, and she’s attached to Steve McQueen’s historical drama Blitz.
Foe will have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival, before being released by Amazon on October 6.
