The post Olivia Rodrigo Turns Into an “Obsessed” Pageant Queen in New Music Video appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
]]>The lyrics of Rodrigo’s latest single perfectly capture the destructive need to know more about your partner’s dating history. “I know her star sign, I know her blood type,” she sings before delivering the song’s explosive chorus, and what we see on screen perfectly captures her all-consuming feeling of jealousy.
Rodrigo is the only girl wearing black in the room of pageant queens attending a ballroom party for girls who all once dated the same guy. They all wear sashes that reflect their history together, ranging from “Miss Thought She Was the One” to “Miss Mom’s Favorite”.
“Obsessed” was released as the lead single from Guts (Spilled), which also features songs “Scared of My Guitar”, “Stranger”, “Girl I’ve Always Been”, and “So American”. They were previously featured on some vinyl editions of Rodrigo’s sophomore studio album before its deluxe edition hit the shelves on March 22.
The original edition of Guts also produced hit singles “Vampire”, “Bad Idea Right?”, and “Get Him Back”, and Rodrigo is promoting it with a tour across North America and Europe this spring and summer.

]]>This cheeky visual opens with Rodrigo hosting an epic house party, but things quickly take an unexpected turn. While singing about the possibility of getting back with her ex, Rodrigo can be seen leaving her friends and going on a wild ride in an attempt to reconnect with her former flame.
Rodrigo had tons of fun making the music video for “Bad Idea Right?” because she decided to bring some of her besties on board.
“I had such a fun time making this song with Dan Nigro in NYC last year. we wrote the chorus as a joke but we loved it so much we made it into a full-fledged song lol! I had a ball making the music video with my friends Petra Collins, Madison Hu, Tate McRae, and Iris Apatow,” she wrote on social media.
“Bad Idea Right?” was released as the second single from Rodrigo’s upcoming studio album Guts, set to hit the shelves on September 8.

]]>Rodrigo initially teased the tracklist with a cryptic video on social media, which saw her doing chores in her bedroom. Tiny clues were scattered all around this short clip, and the singer’s eagle-eyed fans managed to spot quite a few before she officially shared the tracklist one day later.
Rodrigo’s next album will include a total of 12 songs, starting with the lead single “Vampire”. This song was released on June 30, and it immediately became an overnight sensation, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as her third single to do so.
The tracklist also includes such titles as “Bad Idea Right?”, “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl”, “Love Is Embarrassing”, and “Get Him Back!”. Rodrigo is yet to reveal which of these songs will be released as the album’s second single.
Guts is the highly-anticipated follow-up to Rodrigo’s Grammy-winning debut album Sour, which came out in 2021 and produced hit singles “Drivers License”, “Good 4 U”, and “Déjà Vu”.

]]>Directed by Rodrigo’s frequent collaborator Petra Collins, the video opens with the singer performing in an ethereal flower field, that’s actually a part of an award show scenography. She escapes the stage covered in blood after being hit by a falling light, and the video closes with an early shot that shows her being lifted into the night sky.
Rodrigo described “Vampire” as her version of rock opera, and she said its sound significantly evolved after producer Dan Nigro hopped on board and helped improve her original piano version.
“It’s a song about feeling confused and hurt, and at first I thought it was meant to be a piano ballad. But when Dan and I started working on it, we juxtaposed the lyrics with these big drums and crazy tempo changes. So now it’s like a heartbreak song you can dance to,” said Rodrigo in a statement.
“Vampire” was released as the lead single from her highly-anticipated sophomore studio album Guts, set to be released on September 8.

]]>Rodrigo celebrated the anniversary of Sour with an emotional Instagram post on May 21. The young singer shared several photos and videos taken while she was recording her debut studio album and said she feels insanely grateful for every blessing it has brought into her life.
Rodrigo also revealed that “the new stuff is so so so so so close to being done”, referring to the release of her sophomore studio album. This isn’t the first time she teased new music – back in January, she shared a photo from the studio and said she’s “working on so many new songs.”
Rodrigo also dropped hints about the Sour follow-up in several interviews last year. She told Billboard that she already has a title in mind, in addition to dishing about the album’s sound and themes in an interview with Elle.
“I’m definitely not as sad as I was when I wrote Sour. I’m so excited to make my next record and explore more colors and textures and feelings and grow as a human being even more. I’m really stoked for that,” Rodrigo explained.

]]>Rodrigo came out victorious in several main categories including the top new artist and top female artist – in addition to winning awards for the top Hot 100 artist, top streaming songs artist, top radio songs artist, top Billboard 200 Global artist, and top Billboard 200 album with Sour.
Rodrigo failed to repeat the same success in the songs categories, where she received several nominations for “Good 4 U”. She ended up losing most of them to “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber, including the top Hot 100 song, top streaming song, and top Billboard Global 200 song.
It was also a big night for Drake, who defeated Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd to win the ceremony’s top honor—the top artist. He finished the night with a total of five awards, bringing his total to 34 BBMA wins and extending his record as the most-awarded artist in the history of this ceremony.
The 2022 Billboard Music Awards were held in Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 15 with Sean “Diddy” Combs serving as a host.

]]>Batiste received a total of 11 nods at this year’s Grammys, but the album of the year was the only award that he picked up in the main field. He also picked up two trophies in the American Roots categories, in addition to winning the award for the best music video for “Freedom” and best score soundtrack, shared with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for their work on Soul.
Silk Sonic, the super-duo formed by Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, came into the night with four nominations and won all the awards it was nominated for. They owe their triumph to their hit single “Leave the Door Open”, which won trophies for record and song of the year, best R&B performance, and best R&B song.
The list of major winners with three awards each included Olivia Rodrigo, D’Mile, Foo Fighters, Chris Stapleton, and CeCe Winans. The 64th Annual Grammy Awards were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3 with Trevor Noah hosting the show.

]]>Eilish and Rodrigo are obvious choices since they’re both nominated for seven awards, including album, record, and song of the year. Eilish is in the running with her second studio album Happier Than Ever, while Rodrigo owes her nominations to her debut album Sour and chart-topping single “Drivers License”. BTS has been nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with their smash hit “Butter”.
Brothers Osborne, Brandi Carlile, and Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow are also set to perform at the Grammys with the rest of the performers yet to be announced. Lil Nas X and Carlile have been nominated for five awards, while Brothers Osborne and Harlow received two nods each.
The 2022 Grammy Awards are taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3, with Trevor Noah serving as a host. The list of major nominees includes Jon Batiste with eleven nominations, and Doja Cat, H.E.R., and Justin Bieber with eight each.

]]>No music video since Cardi B’s “WAP” created more buzz than “Montero” and we really have to give credit to Lil Nas X for ignoring the critics and staying unapologetically himself.
The Weeknd’s After Hours era came full-circle with the music video “Save Your Tears” and his transformation in this video was both shocking and amazing to witness.
Olivia Rodrigo gave us some of the most nostalgia-filled music videos of 2021, but none of them came even close to the fiery passion and teenage angst of the pop-punk-inspired “Good 4 U”.
Swift’s 10-minute short film “All Too Well” isn’t a music video, but an emotional roller-coaster that will take you through the ups and downs of a doomed relationship that was never meant to be.
Doja Cat is one of those artists who always march to the beat of their own drum and the music video for her SZA collaboration “Kiss Me More” took us to outer space just like the rest of her last album Planet Her.

]]>The post 2022 Grammy Awards: Jon Batiste and Silk Sonic Take Home Major Prizes appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.

]]>The post Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, BTS Set to Perform at 2022 Grammy Awards appeared first on thestarsworldwide.com.
